Bekasi – Class 23-4SP presented their theatre performance “IF ONLY” on Friday, 7 February 2020, at the Amani Palladium Theater, LSPR Transpark Juanda, Bekasi. This performance is the result of guidance from Mr. Khiva Rayanka S.Si as Lecturer, and Mr. Aldy Inzaghi, S.I.Kom as the Assistant Lecturer for the Introduction to Performing Arts Communication.

This story is a parable of a number of family problems experienced by many Indonesian teenagers, according to the writer director of the drama ‘If Only’ the story that can be easily digested and accepted by the audience with solemnity.

Starting with the Kendrapelago family which consists of; Grandma Kirana, Alyssa and Alana

Starting with the Kendrapelago family which consists of; Grandma Kirana, Alyssa and Alana, this family is a slightly different family. Alana never gets the love of a father and Alyssa is always busy with the world of work. Alana’s state at school is always not good because she always sleeps and avoids the teacher’s mother, even though her attitude is like that, there is a friend named Tommy Alvaro who always helps Alana even though Alana doesn’t like Tommy. There is also Devina who often dislikes Alana.

Alyssa and Alana to buy porridge in a Chinese restaurant across the city

One day the state of the Kendrapelago’s house was very uncomfortable. The grandmother told Alyssa and Alana to buy porridge in a Chinese restaurant across the city. While there, they met Mei Ling who is a porridge vendor. When ordering Mei Ling’s porridge, the buyer is given a fortune cookie which is an illustration of if you want to get something then you have to try very hard. After Alyssa and Alana ate the fortune cookie, a very unthinkable event happened. Alana and Alyssa’s bodies were switched. Alyssa was now in Alana’s body, and vice versa.

Alyssa who was once very popular felt something new through Alana’s eyes

They both were very surprised and confused about what had happened to them. They immediately felt strange and unexpected things happen. Even though what they had been through, they still had to carry out their daily activities. Alyssa had to go to school and meet the teacher’s mother and other friends. Alyssa who was once very popular felt something new through Alana’s eyes. She found herself in a different place but she tried to become the old Alyssa, indeed it was unusual for Alana’s friends but the day still passed.

Alana, Alyssa, Mei Ling and The Grandmother

For Alana, Alyssa’s work was a new challenge where she had to meet Melanie Alexandra the colleague of Alyssa who was very spoiled and Alyssa’s “uneasy” attitude made her a little indifferent to the surroundings which was inversely proportional to Alyssa’s attitude, but the day also had to still pass. After a few days passed Alana returned to Mei Ling’s shop and got visuals back to Alyssa’s past and was finally reunited with Alana’s biological father, Julian Aurelius. She was devastated by this and when she returned to her body Alana looked for her biological father.

After finding her father, Alana took him home where it turned out that at home there was Alyssa with Tommy. A great fight ensued and finally Tommy and Julian left leaving Alana and Alyssa still fighting. Finally, their grandmother spoke and made them aware when returning to May Ling finally they succeeded in returning to their world again. The grandmother was in fact in league with Mei Ling and her main goal was to improve the relationship between Alyssa and Alana.
