Jakarta – The use of social media during a pandemic has increased for various purposes, including career achievement. It’s like using LinkedIn in connecting users to the world of work. Ms. Lanny Wijaya, LinkedIn’s talent solution expert for Indonesia from LinkedIn Singapore, was present as a speaker who reviewed this in a webinar in collaboration with LSPR Communication & Business Institute and LinkedIn (21/10).
“LinkedIn is a global community that connects people around the world to achieve their career goals. It’s important to know what image we want potential recruiters to see. Try searching for your name on google once in a while, ”said the alumni of the University of Melbourne jokingly. She also discussed intelligent AI algorithms that know user preferences and interests so that they can meet the needs of each user. Recruiters can also easily sort through people applying for positions with their companies and find out whether or not they are a good fit for the available positions.
To be presentable and memorable on LinkedIn, Ms. Lanny shares some tips, including creating an authentic profile, putting up the best picture of yourself. “Make sure the photo is close up and presentable, the background is simple but also eye-catching. Include your full name, not a nickname, ”she stressed. Another thing to note is that the headline must describe the profile in a concise and attractive manner, given the limited time for recruiters who have access to thousands of applicants.
Linkedin is relatively easy to use, each user can customize the profile, follow and connect with other users, receive feedback, get various information, and suit job opportunities. “LinkedIn is also the number one trusted social media provider nominated by Business Insider for 4 consecutive years until 2020. LinkedIn offers many things users need for their career journey, even helping prepare for job interviews,” said Ms. Lanny at the end of the webinar. (Mahira)
