Jakarta – On Monday, 1st March, Kemendikbud held a live broadcast “Pengumuman Kebijakan Bantuan Kuota Data Internet Tahun 2021 bersama Mendikbud Nadiem Anwar Makarim” on the Kemendikbud RI Youtube at 13.00 WIB. This event was hosted by Mr. Hendarman, plt. Kepala Biro Kerja Sama dan Humas. This internet data quota assistance is a breakthrough by the Ministry of Education and Culture in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic as a solution to ease the economic burden on teachers and families, as well as support distance learning. This assistance has been around since 2020, and will be continued again in 2021.

Mendikbud Nadiem Anwar Makariem explained matters related to the 2021 internet data quota assistance policy. He said that based on the survey that had been conducted, the 2020 internet data quota assistance policy received very positive responses from the public. As many as 84.7% of respondents considered that this quota assistance program was the right step in responding to the Covid-19 epidemic crisis and as many as 85.6% of respondents considered that the free internet assistance program eased the economic burden on parents of students in buying internet packages.

“Therefore, we will continue this internet data quota assistance policy for the next 3 months starting from March 2021 with maximum flexibility of use,” said Mendikbud. “The gigabyte earned is smaller than the previous study quota, but this quota is a general quota so that it can be used to access all pages and apps except for apps blocked by Kominfo and social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Tiktok). Youtube is included in the general quota so it can be used, because a lot of learning material is from YouTube too. Although the gigabit volume is not as large as before, its use is more flexible. We do this modification based on various kinds of input from the public” said the person who is familiarly called Mas Menteri.

Volume of quota assistance per category level of education

Assistance is distributed on 11-15 every month and is valid for 30 days from the date the data quota is received. All those who receive quota assistance in November-December 2020 and whose number is active will automatically receive quota assistance in March 2020. Except for people who have received quota assistance but whose usage is below 1 GB, it means that the data provided is not used. For those whose numbers have changed or have not received the previous quota, they will only be able to receive quota assistance starting April 2021. They must report to the head of the Education unit before April 2021 to receive quota assistance. Mendikbud Nadiem also explained the requirements for receiving internet data quota assistance in 2021 according to the regulation of the secretary general of the Ministry of Education and Culture number 4 of 2021.
