Jakarta – On Friday, 9th April 2021, Public Relation Major in LSPR held a webinar about self-appearance. Many people ask “How important is self-appearance to be noticed?” Self-appearance or what we known as self-appearance is one of the important things in the world of work and daily life, why is it said that way? Because self-appearance is very concerned in a recruitment process in a company. The self-appearance itself includes starting from the hairdo, clothes we wear, and much more. Clothes and appearance are one form of nonverbal communication that can affect the perception of others to you. A company assesses appearance not to see how beautiful or handsome we are, but our appearance can show that we are serious about taking a job interview.

Public relation is one of work that most often meet with clients and often meet with officials from the government. As felt by the webinar speaker named Ghassani Herstanti. She works as Government &External Relation Department Head of PT. Jakarta MRT (Perseroda). Being one of the head departments of course, she often attends meetings or meet with government officials. Self-appearance and personal appearance become the main thing in giving an impact so that one can judge us positively, if we have been judged positively then self-confidence will arise from within us.

She also said that the attitude of dressing is very important. Starting from the way we know when and where to wear the costume. For example, if we meet government officials in the office then we also wear neat office clothes, and if we attend meetings with government officials outside the office (such as cycling events together, etc.) then we must wear appropriate and neat costumes. So here we can know that in a job we must have a neat self-appearance, high self-confidence, good attitude, and certainly satisfactory skills. Because from that people can see that we are good.
