Jakarta Friday, 29 October 2021, LSPR held the 1st session of 3rd LSPR OMNI series in collaboration with Coventry University, UK.

The first session featured Professor Mike Hardy, Director of the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations, Coventry University, UK & Chairman of the International Leaders Association and was moderated by Mr. Mekha Fadli and Mr. Moshe Rizal, lecturer from LSPR Communication and Business Institute. The first session of LSPR OMNI was attended by more than 160 students.

In this session, Professor Mike Hardy was discussing mainly about how to be a great leader and how cultures influence leadership styles. He started from Identifying the concept of leadership. Leadership is a practice not a person, leadership contains the ability to encourage others to work and mobilize people in a positive way to overcome challenges. Leadership must have the abilities to listen, hear, and understand in order to take decisions and create innovations.

Developing unity in diversity is one of the challenges needed to be overcome by leadership. Establishing unity is not easy work but it grows from the common ground and it is a great formula for a team to unite, it encourages everyone to be transparent and open while working hard to achieve the goals, unity can help differentiate conflict of interest as well.

In a crisis, we need an agile, informed, and humble leadership. Do not focus too much only on the problem, but try to find a solution that will benefit everyone. Decision making is all about solutions. Be brave to take risks, have trust and rely on people, a clear vision and teamwork will lead you to success. Those without power or authority can also give ideas to influence the authority and make a better decision.

The participants

LSPR OMNI is part of a lecturer exchange programme, an initiative to balance the student’s online and offline academic learning in addressing the “new normal” environment.  LSPR OMNI is similar to LSPR Lecturer Exchange Programme, however due to travel restrictions, we wanted to continue the implementation by making this available online. LSPR OMNI started in 2020 where international lecturers come and teach LSPR students through online classes. This year, LSPR OMNI will be held  from 29th October 2021 until 17th December 2021. The distinctiveness of this year’s session of LSPR OMNI is that the sessions are available for all LSPR students without any limitation. We want to reach and invite all LSPR students to join and take learning beyond borders.
