Jakarta – Friday, 3 June 2022, LSPR held the 2nd and 3rd sessions of the 4th LSPR OMNI series in collaboration with the Hotel Institute Montreux, Switzerland featuring Mr. Edouard Louapre, lecturer at Hotel Institute Montreux and De Montfort University, United Kingdom featuring Mr. John Coster, the Director of Documentary Media Centre, UK and also a lecturer at De Montfort University, UK. These sessions were moderated by Ms. Ayu Rakhmi and Mr. Isya Amroussi respectively, lecturers from LSPR Communication and Business Institute.
Mr. Edouard Louapre explained how we must set goals for every promotion activities for the tourism and destinations area. Other than that, as a promoter, we must prepare the destination to provide all the needs of the tourists in accordance with the customer’s expectations. In addition to that, the information about the destinations themselves must be available online for the purposes of customer’s research.
Setting a KPI is a must in order to make a better plan for the promotions and have a sustainability plan which will assist with the improving the quality of the tourism itself that will lead to a bigger investor. Other than that, Mr. Edouard Louapre also suggests that we need to be more creative in arranging the promotional plan of destinations to attract more customers.
Mr. John Coster also explained that documentary films can be one of the tools in promoting the destinations, because nowadays, Documentary is not only used for documenting a biography of an individual or only uses to promote social issues, but with the growth of the technologies, documentary films become one of the media to promote a business. The documentary films become a new promotion tactic for industries in introducing the business. Take a look at BTS & Blackpink who use documentary films to promote their music, where they expose the true meaning of their activities and characters.
Originally, the documentary was about the promotion and branding. If you have the stories, you can tell the stories, but we must find the perfect angle in order to retell the stories. In the case of promoting a destination or tourism site, it is highly important to highlight the uniqueness of the sides and presents it’s beauty.
LSPR OMNI is part of a lecturer exchange programme, an initiative to balance the student’s online and offline academic learning in addressing the “new normal” environment. LSPR OMNI is similar to LSPR Lecturer Exchange Programme, however due to travel restrictions, we wanted to continue the implementation by making this available online. LSPR OMNI started in 2020 where international lecturers come and teach LSPR students through online classes. This year, LSPR OMNI will be held from 13 May 2022 until 15 July 2022. The distinctiveness of this year’s session of LSPR OMNI is that the sessions are available for all LSPR students without any limitation and some of the sessions will be held offline Prof. Dr. Djajusman Auditorium & Performance Hall in Sudirman Park. We want to reach and invite all LSPR students to join and take learning beyond borders.
