Prita Kemal Gani stand before you today as a representative of LSPR Institute, an institution committed to providing quality education and bridging the existing imbalance in education in Indonesia. We are gathered here at the United Nations to address an issue of utmost importance: the development of quality education and addressing poverty through innovative educational approaches. In Indonesia, we face a significant challenge when it comes to education. While strides have been made in improving access to education, there still needs to be a significantly more substantial disparity between urban and rural areas and different socioeconomic backgrounds. This imbalance in education not only hinders the personal growth and potential of individuals but also perpetuates systemic poverty.
LSPR Institute recognizes the urgent need for change and is dedicated to being a catalyst in transforming the education landscape in Indonesia. The key to tackling this issue lies in our unique approach to education. At LSPR Institute, we prioritize practical and experiential learning, ensuring our students acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills relevant to today’s rapidly changing world. Through partnerships with industry leaders and organizations, we provide our students with real-world experiences and internship opportunities, ensuring they are well-equipped to enter.
As a dedicated educational institution, LSPR Institute Campus has been committed to providing quality education to the young generation of Indonesia. Education is the key to overcoming the social and economic imbalances that exist in our country. Through an innovative and holistic approach to learning, we aim to equip our students with relevant skills and in-depth knowledge to compete in a competitive job market.
One story that is full of inspiration is the story of Putri Victor; in 2009, when she was 17 years old, she left her hometown in Sekura, West Kalimantan, took a boat, then six hours by bus to Pontianak City, and then 1.5 hours by plane alone, heading to Jakarta. Putri studied at LSPR to achieve the “I need to be someone” dream. She also said LSPR provided fundamental practical life provisions that helped her to prepare herself. After that, Putri Continued to take a master’s degree at LSPR, and last year, in 2023, She was awarded one of the 18 Most Extraordinary Women Business Leaders 2023 by CMO Asia. She is the Head of Marketing at Re.juve Indonesia.
One of the essential aspects of the education we develop at LSPR Institute Campus is the empowerment of our students. We focus on mastering the subject matter and provide opportunities for students to develop social, leadership, and entrepreneurial skills. By strengthening these skills, our students will become agents of positive change in their societies.
In addition, LSPR Institute Campus is also very concerned with the problem of poverty many Indonesians face. We recognize that education is critical to tackling long-term poverty. Therefore, we have launched educational programs aimed at empowering underprivileged communities. For example, we provide scholarships for outstanding students from limited economic backgrounds. In addition, we also partner with NGOs and governments to conduct skills training programs for adults who want to improve their employment opportunities. That is why LSPR has a Centre of Innovation Business to support and assist more than 40 MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) in Bekasi, West Java, the implementation of which is not only carried out by lecturers but also directly involves students.
In our efforts to develop sustainable and inclusive education, LSPR Institute Campus is also committed to collaborating with various stakeholders. We can achieve significant change in our education system by working together, whether with the government, civil society, or the private sector. We are ready to share our experience and expertise and learn from successful education initiatives in other countries. Indonesia has more than four thousand campuses, but only 43 campuses have SDG centres, and LSPR Institute is one of them. The LSPR SDG’s Centre will, of course, actively support efforts to eradicate poverty and also bring gender equality. Another positive thing LSPR Institute has dedicated to the country is establishing a Centre of Health and Gender Literacy, which has already produced some research and gives advice for government policy on Health Communication.
In closing, LSPR Institute Campus is committed to building quality education to bridge Indonesia’s social and economic gaps. Education is the best investment we can give our youth and the key to overcoming poverty. In the spirit of global cooperation, we look forward to working with the United Nations and member states to achieve our common goals.
