Monday, October 3rd 2016, LSPR held the 2016-2017 Student League Presidential Candidates open debate at Prof. Dr. Djajusman Auditorium & Performance Hall. Participants and candidates at the hall room sang Indonesia Raya as the opening of the debate. Then, Rio Yudhoyono, as the former President of 2015-2016 Student League, gave a little valedictory speech on what has happened when he was the President of 2015-2016 Student League. He also announced the winner of Club of the Year award: LSPR Public Speaking and Officer Of the Year: Edwin Garcia, The President of KMB Club.
This year, there are 2 candidates who are running for President and Vice President of 2016-2017 Student League. Number 1 candidates are Christine Intan as President and Anggita Pramantri as Vice President. For number 2 candidates they are Clara Tirta Wijaya as President and Dewi as Vice President. A short video from both candidates were played before they are welcomed to the stage.
There were 5 sessions during the Open Debate. The first session, both of the candidates had to explain their visions and misions if they are elected as the President and Vice President of Student League. The second session, both candidates were asked by the judges to explain the events they are planning to hold in the upcoming year. As fifth and final session, both candidates had to debate between each of them. In this session, the atmosphere in the Auditorium was very lively because of the roaring of the supporters from both sides. The session was given added time in which both candidates had to answer the question from Rio Yudhoyono. Rio asked about the strengths and weakness from each candidates, as well as the closing of the final session. For the closing of the event, the results of the quick count were shown, and the results are:
