On Monday, November 28 th 2016 The Embassy of the Philippines Jakarta and The National Commission for Culture and The Arts in cooperation with The London School of Public Relations Jakarta presents Kaisahan ng Lahi Music Ensemble entitled Kwerdas ng Kasaysayan, strings of the past at the Prof. DR Djajusman Auditorium and Performance Hall, Campus B, The London School of Public Relations Jakarta. The event started at 6.30 pm and it was attended by The Ambassadors of various countries like Brazil, Spain, Thailand, Russia, Germany, Myanmar, and Brunei Darussalam.
The event was opened by welcome remarks by The Philippines Ambassador to Indonesia Mrs. Maria Lumen B. Isletta. On her speech she talked about the history background of the rondalla and also about the importance to conserve and introduce the Philippines’ traditional music to the public especially the young generation and the Filipinos outside the Philippines and this thing is the responsibility of the Philippines Embassy and The National Commission for Culture and the Arts.
The opening remarks then continued with the speech by the founder of The London School of Public Relations Jakarta, Mrs. Prita Kemal Gani, MBA, MCIPR, APR, in the beginning of her speech she express her gratitude to The Ambassadors of various countries for coming to this event. She also stated that she and LSPR were truly honored to be the part of this concert and she also talked about the Filipinos staff and student that she already considered as the part of her family.
The concert started with a short speech and introduction to the personnel of the music ensemble by Mr. Radel Lopez. In his speech he talked about the history of rondalla and the history of the Kaisahan ng Lahi Music Ensemble before introduce the each of the personnel.
The concert consist of 7 parts. The first part was open by a song named “Habanera de Jovencita” and continued by a song named “Sampaguita” which sampaguita itself is a national flower of the Philippines that usually offered to welcome the guest, The second part of the concert played Filipino folk songs such as, Pilipinas, and Usahay and continued by the third section that played the Filipino pop music and the fourth section of the concert played the famous Michael Jackson Songs like Billie Jean and Man in a Mirror that was famous on the 80s.
The fifth part of the concert was livened by the collaboration between the Kaisahan ng Lahi Music Ensemble and LSPR Choir that performed 3 songs together and the songs are Folklore, Kalesa, and Eres tu. Then, it was continued with earth music with aksento part and were closed by the final part that performed the Filipino Christmas songs. (Natashya/Desy)
