Jakarta – Ariestya Devitha Bouty, S.Ikom which is a batch of 10, alumni of the LSPR Communication & Business Institute shared their journey so they can become a Public Relations Manager at Aston Kartika Grogol Hotel & Conference Center. Ariestya first applied for work at the Grand Sahid Wijaya hotel with a CV that was still concise and did not include the experiences carried out during the lecture.
She said that when she was first called by HRD, Ariestya still felt a lot of fear and anxiety. In Hospitality, for job applicants to become the Public Relations Manager, Sales, and Marketing Department when the job interview uses English, all stages from interviews with HRD to the General Manager. This interview or interview stage is a time that can be used to learn in answering questions that will be issued by people such as HRD, General Manager, and others.
After the interview, three days later Ariestya was accepted by the hotel. The first time she worked she got a schedule in the morning until the afternoon. At that time, she felt his life and environment changed. This makes it necessary to adjust and learn how to work with a new schedule and environment. He acknowledged that this thing requires extraordinary effort, and made him need to study more disciplined
She recalled, “in the work environment, we need to learn how to talk with our superiors and colleagues well. We also need to understand that our superiors or seniors who work with us in the office already have more and longer work experience. So we need to differentiate how we get along and talk with them “.
After about 1 year or more, Ariestya tried to apply for work as an Assistant Public Relations Manager at one of the five-star Grove Suite by Grand Aston hotels. At that time Ariestya had learned to make a good CV by including her experiences that she had done while working, such as the organization and achievements she had achieved. She acknowledged that the questions raised by HRD were almost the same, regarding previous work experience, what programs would be run if accepted at the company, and so on. “It is also necessary to make plans or strategies to answer questions during the interview. Like what strategies we will make for the company when we are accepted and work in the company, “she said.
Furthermore, Ariestya outlines how the job descriptions and career paths he goes through. While serving as Public Relations Officer, she is in charge of making press releases at least 3 times a month, including hotel and internal employee promotions, which will be sent to the media database. She admitted each position in a company has different duties and responsibilities. “Careers go up, more challenges and heavier responsibilities,” she said. She shared work experience with various positions in it. Like being a Public Relations Manager and Marketing Communication Manager in several star hotels. Internal and external collaboration, the use of new media, and developing appropriate promotional strategies are a reference in carrying out this profession.
Being a PR is Ariestya’s passion. “I like it when the company where I work can be known or known by many people. The hotel has very good products, has good food taste, the place is cozy to hang out or eat there. Initially like a challenge, but the rest like fun or hobbies that are usually done. Aside from being a PR Manager, Ariestya also wants to try to become Director of Sales of Marketing, and needs to learn a lot about sales,”she added.
For Ariestya, the world of work is a place to socialize with colleagues through good speech. “Don’t be afraid to speak wrong, don’t be afraid to answer the questions given by HRD or General Manager. All of that will be learned before you come to love your work. When you love your work, work will be fun, “she concluded.
