Entering the early weeks of the term, students of Batch 19 LSPR Jakarta had the opportunity to sit in a public lecture with the speakers who are experts in their respective fields. The public lecture was held in accordance with their own respective majors. It was held last 23 September 2016 at Prof. Dr. Djajusman Auditorium and Performance Hall and Rafael Jolongbayan Room, the students of Performing Arts Communication, Digital Media Communication & Advertising, and Mass Communication from Batch 19 received knowledge and personal experience shared by the experts in the hope to help them plan their future ahead.
Probably not many have ever heard of a band called Humania. This band made its mark by bringing Funk Jazz genre for the first time in Indonesia’s music industry. Mr. Eki Puradiredja, a member of the band, a music composer and songwriter, came as a guest lecturer for Performing Arts Communication public lecture. He shared his abundant experiences during his active days on the stage as musician, and how he ended up at the back of the stage as a Program Director for JavaJazz. He also gave tips and tricks how to be a successful entertainer on, and off the stage, which are very useful for students of Performing Arts and Communication department.
For Digital Media Communication and Advertising, the magic sentence in this public lecture is “Persuade, and Seduce People”, which is spoken by Mr. Hakim Lubis. He gave the definition of Advertising as a way to change the mindset of the audience in how to use and wear products. He also added that Advertising is one of the oldest works on Earth. As an example, he explains how Satan offered, persuade, and seduce Adam to eat the fruit, which resulted in Adam getting sent off from Heaven.
Meanwhile in Mass Communication department, they had the opportunity to hear directly from the Deputy Chief Editor of Beritagar.id, Mr. Rahadian P. Paramita. Beritagar.id is an online based news website that produces their story by using carefully analyzed data and statistics from various sources. Mr. Rahadian also provides the description on how the complex of quantitative data processing becomes a valid data that is easier to read, and thus resulting in a story for their website. This process is intended to create a more factual story that are based on pure facts, which is data, and not from subjective facts that are usually obtain from using conservative methods of investigating. “Insights are needed in order for the society to become smarter, and we need to nurture it”, said Mr. Rahadian.
