Earth where we live is starting to look fogged in aged already more than a thousand years old. Many factors that make the state of the Earth is increasingly worrying, one of it is the lack of our attention were human beings must need to take care of the place we live in.

Starting from that issue, the Climate Change Champions Club or known as LSPR 4C held their annual event named LSPR Environment Month 2016 “Green Wild” – Let’s Dirt Our Hands. A series of events focusing on preserving the environment has been drafted carefully by a team of LSPR 4C, from tumbler day, planting mangrove, coral conservation to camping activities at the foot of Mount Salak.

At the event yesterday LSPR News become part of their activities, they named it Green Plant on Saturday, March 12 2016 in Harapan Island, Thousand Islands. In the event, LSPR 4C trying to engaged with people, especially  LSPR – Jakarta families to participate and contribute to planting the mangrove trees and coral baby as one of manifestation concern for the sustainability of marine ecosystems.

The journey started with a gathering around campus area LSPR at four o’clock in the morning. After all the team assembled, trip begun to the Port of Muara Angke using two mini buses, early morning trip was chosen in order to get the first ship to be anchored to the Harapan Island. Upon arrival at the dock, the team rushed to the boat and prepared to take a sea voyage for approximately 2.5 hours.

The first event began with a welcoming and giving several pieces of trash cans to the head of the local area. Activity then proceed with the action of planting mangrove trees right on the egde of the island. Around 1200 mangrove trees planted on that occasion. Afterwards the group headed to the next place to plant baby coral. Baby coral that was planted has the name of the one who planted them.

The afternoon event was closed with a lunch prepared by locals and hang out around the island. It was an incredible experience to be able to contribute to nature in order to support a better life for the future. Hopefully, this action can inspire a lot of people about the importance of protecting the environment. So, start from now let’s “Think Green, Act Green Starts from our hands”. (Nanda/Desy)
