Jakarta – Friday, 22nd October 2021, LSPR held the 3rd session of LSPR’s UPSCALES Workshop in collaboration with De Montfort University (DMU), UK.
The third and final session of LSPR UPSCALES featured Rhys Davies, a senior lecturer from faculty of CEM and deputy programme leader on MA International Film Production Director, Leicester Media Productions De Montfort University, UK. He discussed mainly on how to produce an engaging documentary film. The session was moderated by Ms. Candy Hernandez, one of LSPR lecturers who has over 15 years of experience in the field of TV, Film & Video Production and has produced various films and documentaries.
Mr. Rhys Davies started by explaining the milestone of the documentary film, which was stated as the story itself. Story has a deeper meaning than words, it holds value and a power to influence the targeted audience. You need to get yourself inspired by doing research before conducting a documentary film. Seek for information or phenomenon that needs the society’s attention and try to find a resolution to call for action. Other than that, Mr. Davies also explained that adding animation or videos can be helpful to support the storyline and make a documentary film become more engaging.
The session continued with a discussion amongst the lecturers on how to make a great impact documentary and the lecturers point of view for the documentary film making especially to increase the awareness of the SDG within the pandemic after the session.
LSPR UPSCALES (University Partner Synchronized Collaboration to Accelerate Learning Education System) is a sub activity under the PK-KM (Program Kompetisi Kampus Merdeka) which is a lecturer exchange activity with a hybrid learning concept that combines online and offline exchange programs. LSPR UPSCALES will continue to have a collaboration project between the lecturers and students and LSPR UPSCALES aims to improve the knowledge and ability of LSPR Lecturers through hybrid activities series that involve an exchange lecturer.
