On 13 November 2020, the Rector of the LSPR Institute of Communication and Business announced a policy to encourage and build a culture of inclusion in the LSPR campus environment. The policy applies to all members of the community including students, lecturers, management and LSPR staff. This policy encourages the recognition and celebration of the existence and value of diversity within the LSPR campus environment. Diversity in terms of ethnicity, religion, disability, immigration status and gender. Policies and programmes are expected to create a fair and humanistic learning environment and culture. The decision of inclusive education in LSPR is also based on Indonesian laws, namely Law No. 12 of 2012 on Higher Education, Law No. 20 Article 4 of 2023 on the Implementation of Democratic and Equitable and Non-Discriminatory Education. Minister of National Education Regulation (Permendiknas) No. 70 of 2009 on inclusive education for students with Disabilities and potential for intelligence and/or special talents. Presidential Instruction No. 9 on Gender Mainstreaming.
The rector’s decision encompasses several points, including the implementation of learning that considers the diversity of student needs and the different learning styles of students. The second point is to guarantee that campus facilities are accessible to all individuals. The third point is to conduct activities to raise awareness about inclusivity issues throughout the campus environment. Programs and activities are created involving all staff, students and stakeholders. Some activities are carried out to raise awareness about diversity internally, LSPR also holds several educational activities about equality outside the LSPR campus.
