The angels descended from Nirvana to earth on 7th August 2015, at Prof. Dr. Djajusman Auditorium and Performance Hall, performing the legendary folktale, Jaka Tarub. Jaka Tarub tells the story of seven angels, daughters of Wisnu, who descends from Nirvana to earth to do things that they’re not allowed to do in Nirvana. One day, they decided to go to the forbidden part of earth where there’s a waterfall, deciding to take a bath under the waterfall.
The 5th angel, Nawangwulan, decided to separate herself from her sisters. A man named Jaka Tarub and his brother, Jaka Sembung, passed by and noticed the angels, upon realizing this, they decided to steal one of the shawl, in hopes of being able to meet an angel. As the angels finish their baths, needing to go back to Nirvana, they realize the shawl belonging to Nawangwulan was missing – making them leave her at earth alone. Jaka Tarub and his brother came back and discovered the angel who owns the shawl was the ugly and grumpy one. Pitying her, they decided to invite her to dinner.
Performing for the 15th LSPR Theatre Festival, class 18-13A brings Jaka Tarub alive to the audience, mixing the folktale drama with a touch of humor, entertaining the audience throughout the night.
