LSPR Institute of Communication and Business Champions Sustainability with “Mangrove Planting Vol. 2”

Founded by Dr. (H.C.) Prita Kemal Gani, MBA, MCIPR, APR, on July 1, 1992, LSPR Institute of Communication and Business stands as a distinguished educational institution under the management of Yayasan Pesona Pribadi Sejahtera. With nine departments within its Faculty of Communication and Business, LSPR continues to lead in fostering comprehensive education.

At the core of LSPR’s student life is the Student Executive Board (BEM), an essential intra-campus organisation aimed at nurturing the non-academic skills and potential of students. BEM oversees 28 student clubs, categorised into four main areas: Arts, Social and Environmental Initiatives, Digital Innovation and International Relations, and Sports.

Among these, the LSPR 4C (Climate Change Champions Club) is a standout club dedicated to raising awareness and spearheading actions on environmental issues. Committed to building a community of environmentally conscious individuals, LSPR 4C organises impactful activities that inspire sustainable action.

In line with its mission, LSPR 4C is launching its annual flagship program, “Mangrove Planting Vol. 2: One Seed, One Hope.” This initiative offers participants the opportunity to contribute directly to environmental preservation through the planting of mangrove seedlings. This year’s event, organised in collaboration with Yayasan KEHATI—a respected environmental organisation—will also include educational segments on the critical importance of mangrove planting.

The theme “One Seed, One Hope” encapsulates the event’s goal of instilling a deep understanding among participants that environmental care starts with small acts—such as planting a single seed—that can yield tremendous benefits. Mangrove planting supports environmental preservation and promotes the ecological balance vital for all life on Earth. Through collective efforts, this initiative aims to foster a sustainable present and future, inspiring participants to become active stewards of the environment.

Participants of this program will gather at LSPR Sudirman Park and travel via two LSPR shuttle buses and one external bus to the planting site at Kolam Labuh Retensi in Cilincing, North Jakarta. The day’s itinerary will begin with a waste collection activity, followed by the planting of 350 mangrove seedlings. Some of these seedlings will be reserved for future maintenance purposes. The event will conclude with a break for refreshments, documentation, and the return journey to the LSPR Sudirman Park campus.

The initiative doesn’t stop there—monthly follow-up visits will be scheduled to monitor and care for the newly planted mangroves, ensuring their growth and survival. By implementing such meaningful programs, LSPR 4C not only reinforces the importance of environmental action but also contributes to the larger mission of cultivating a generation that recognizes the value of small actions in achieving long-term environmental conservation.
