Twenty students of EY, or the commonly known Ernst and Young, Academy of Business came to LSPR on Tuesday, 31st January 2017 to attain Public Speaking and Table Manner Training sessions held yearly by the institution. Excecuted on Campus C, LSPR Jakarta, the event was mainly purposed in improving attendants’ skills of public speaking and to enhance the dining fashions for business or formal uses. Lecturers from LSPR were present as leaders and speakers for the training sessions.

Commenced with greeting from two of the Master of Ceremonies (MC), Mr. Dion and Ms. Kina, the first session, Public Speaking Training began. Mr. Arief Bakri, as one of LSPR Jakarta’s lecturer, enlightened the morning through his interactive and lively approach as the first speaker, in teaching the importance and strategies of public speaking as one of a communication medium. It is asserted that the skill of public speaking would imply highly to the competence of speakers in becoming leaders. Confidence, formation of messages through different languages, and critical thinking are known to be the most essential aspects that public speakers should have, claimed Mr. Arif himself. The first training was then ended by photo sessions of Mr. Arief Bakri with the attendants of EY Academy of Business. The long awaited table manner training was then started by 12.30am, led by Ms. Elke Alexandrina, as the director of London School Academy, as well as lecturer of Marketing Communications study. Attendants are set in round tables for five, each with arranged plates and cutleries made for formal dining tables. The training commenced with short discourses on introduction to business dining etiquette. Students were informed on how table manner in business activites are neccessary due to building relationships, communicating with people, sealing a deal, or even to create an image of an individual, as well the image of the company they represent. The lecture was then continued by small demonstration of a business dinner in which followed by twenty of the EY Academy students. Attendants were being served bread as a complimentary, salad as appetizer, roasted chicken as main course, and pudding as the dessert. It is all about postures, recognition of the plating, and maintaining a quality conversation with the assembly on the dining table.

The session was then closed with photo sessions and distribution of certificates to each of the attendants as an appreciation from LSPR to the EY Academy. This as well, ended the Public Speaking and Table Manner Training event held by LSPR Jakarta. (Arman/Nadira)
