To celebrate the 25th anniversary of LSPR, the lecturers of LSPR Jakarta presented a drama musical, Mulan, it is an adaptation from Disney’s Animation Mulan. Why Mulan? Because the story of Mulan represents LSPR’s story itself. The courage and power/strength of Mulan is a symbol LSPR, the best communication academy in Jakarta. The lecturer of LSPR has prepared this theater all the way back to March 2017. The script was rewritten by the director herself, Renata Tirta Kurniawan. She adapted the script to bahasa and turn it into musical, with comedies in it. Along with the music director & arranger, Imanuel Hutagalung, they chose 25 musics/songs and put it into the story.

Mulan’s story was told through acting, singing and dancing

This musical drama involved 37 lectures as the actors and 6 as the band members. Some assistant lecturers also participated as a committee in this theater. All of them had worked really hard to made time, to memorize all the script, blocking, and also the choreography. And the audiences witnessed the other talents of these lecturers besides just teaching, that is art and acting.

The performance was held for two days, Saturday, 15 July and Sunday, 16 July 2017 in the Prof. Dr. Djajusman Auditorium and Performance Hall of LSPR Jakarta. In two days, so many guests came to watch the show. Including the Founder & Director of LSPR Jakarta, Mrs. Prita Kemal Gani and Mr. Kemal Gani. There was absolutely no tickets left for the theater performance on saturday and sunday. All sold out. And many audiences were very satisfied and happy after watching the show.

The audience was entertained by the acting from its main casts; Mulan (Candy Hernandez), Mushu (Tunggul Panindrya), Li Shang (Joe Harrianto), Dalang (Arswendo Atmowiloto) and all the lecturers who participated in this theater performance and what made the theater even more interestingly funny was because of the many spontaneous speeches from each characters and the funny and natural actions of the performers on the stage made the audience more happy and very well entertained. Besides the action of the main cast, lecturers who served as Ladies of The Palace & Soldiers of China made the audience entertained with their funny action & dance moves on stage. It only proves LSPR lecturers actually does what they teach, they walk the talk….

In addition to the lecturers who are on stage, the songs are sung by LSPR Senior Band they were Imanuel Hutagalung (Keyboardist & Music Director & Arranger), Josef Radel Lopez (Guitar/Bass), Andreas Humala (Drums), Vicky Sihombing, Giovanni Tomasowa & Renata Tirta Kurnia (Singers) favored by the audience because of the music and their good voice, they have sang many types of songs from English, Indonesian, Mandarin and there were also Dangdut songs, which made the show very live and entertaining.
