Jakarta, November 21, 2015 – By the end of 2015, Founder and Director of LSPR Jakarta, Prita Kemal Gani, received a special prize, awarded by ASEAN Peoples’ Award (APA). The prestigious award was received by the initiator of ASEAN PR Network (APRN) at the ASEAN Summit from November 21 to 27, 2015, in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.
Prita Kemal Gani was pleased to be the recipient of the award after receiving letter of congratulations from the Directorate General of ASEAN Cooperation Ministry of Foreign Affairs Indonesia, No. 21340 / KA / 10/2015/41, on October 27, 2015.
Daily Executive Team Leader from the National Secretariat of ASEAN Indonesia who is also the Indonesian Ambassador to ASEAN, Ngurah Swajaya stated in his letter last October 27th, 2015 that the ASEAN Peoples’ Award (APA) will be given to an individual or organization in ASEAN countries which have helped and contributed to the development of ASEAN countries.
At the awarding ceremony, Prita Kemal Gani had a chance to showcase the activities that she has done and will be implementing in her future projects with APRN. She also exhibited her other achievements related to the development ofASEAN community.
During her involvement in the world of Public Relations, Prita Kemal Gani has received many awards nationally and internationally. Prita has previously received an award from the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia (IPRM) in 2005 for Best Practices in PR and Professional Communication. She has also received PERHUMAS Achievement Award in (Education Category) in 2006, and the Outstanding Entrepreneur Award from Asia Pacific Entrepreneur Award 2009.
Prita who is currently hosting her own radio program on LITE FM called “PR Corner” and she is also one of the recipients of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneurial Winning Women Asia Pacific Class of 2015, representing Indonesia along with 13 other women across Asia Pacific.
Prita Kemal Gani is always creative and innovative. She has successfully established the LSPR-Centre For Public Relations Studies (LSPR-CAPRS), which was inaugurated by the Directorate General of ASEAN Cooperation Ministry Foreign Affairs last October 13, 2014 at LSPR.
This institution is initiated by Prita Kemal Gani in response to the need of having a research center of ASEAN studies focusing on the fields of PR and Communication. The center aims to conduct research and scientific studies in the relationship and cooperation in the ASEAN region especially in the field of communications.
The research center is also actively participating in community service in the form of socialization and dissemination of information on ASEAN. It is implemented on a variety of activities such as lectures and dialogue that aims to broaden knowledge and raise awareness for different classes of society; Women and Children – to include women’s civil society organizations, educational organizations and children; Youth – includes students as future leaders of ASEAN; The business sector – to involve local business, small-and medium-sized; as well as key influencers – and encourage the involvement of academicians.
The center also aims to publish academic literature that gives the real advantage to the progress of science and the development of cooperation and harmonious relations in the ASEAN region. All programs, activities and research carried out by CAPRS ASEAN aims to provide a comprehensive and deliver relevant facts and their tangible benefits of ASEAN to the interest of ASEAN community.
In the field of PR, Prita Kemal Gani, has motivated herself to think globally to improve the PR profession, which gave the idea to unite all PR associations and practitioners in ASEAN through the birth of ASEAN PUBLIC RELATIONS NETWORK (APRN).
Together with other leaders of ASEAN PR organization, Prita Kemal Gani established APRN that aims to generalize the vision, mission, and standards for PR profession around ASEAN and the association was founded last June 2, 2014 at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, Indonesia. The tagline of APRN is “The Voice of Public Relations ASEAN” has now become the highest PR organization in ASEAN. APRN is viewed as an international organization that initiated collaborative relationships between PR professionals /institutions and associations between ASEAN countries.
In the future, APRN aims to achieve the standard of competence for PR in ASEAN, 1st ASEAN PR Awards, 2nd ASEAN PR Summit, will provide scholarships to undergraduate and postgraduate students of LSPR, to conduct joint research with universities and community service in ASEAN community in the form of social campaigns.
Prita Kemal Gani was also elected in the board of directors of the organization Global Alliance For Public Relations & Communications Management (GA). Global Alliance for Public Relations is a PR and communications management confederation of the world’s major associations and institutions, which represents 160,000 practitioners and academics around the world. The Global Alliance mission is to bring together public relations profession, improve professional standards throughout the world, share knowledge for the benefit of its members and become a global voice for PR for public interest. This organization has selected a new board of directors which began last July 1, 2015. The Board includes leading practitioners, academicians, and industry association leaders, with representatives from every continent.
Representative of Indonesia Prita Kemal Gani, MBA, MCIPR, APR was elected as Executive Board Member: Regional Delegate at Large Asia that is responsible for the development of the Global Alliance and services to associations in Asia.
All the studies and related matters with the development of Public Relations and Communications in Asia and the ASEAN region will be under GA. With the support of other global leaders in public relations, ASEAN will be the first to carry out the important role of PR in the development process of the nation.
