Professor Hardy is Chair of Intercultural Relations and a founding Director of the Centre for Trust, Peace, and Social Relations at Coventry University. He is adjunct-Professor of leadership at the LSPR Institute of Communications and Business in Jakarta, Indonesia. Mike has been twice honoured in the UK, awarded the OBE in 2001 for his peace-building work in the Middle East, and appointed a Companion of Honour of St Michael and St George (CMG) in the HM Queen’s Birthday Honours June 2010 for his work internationally in Intercultural Dialogue.
Mike is a Board Director and Chair of the International Leadership Association (www.ilaglobalnetwork.org), a passionate supporter of The Faith and Belief Forum (http://faithbeliefforum.org) the leading interfaith charity in the UK, a member of the International Advisory Board for ICESCO and life-fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts.
From 2012-2014, Professor Hardy directed of the European Commission’s €0.8m “Support to the Promotion of the Amman Message in Europe’ project in partnership with the Jordanian Royal Institute for Interfaith Studies, hosting and moderating colloquia of faith leaders, academics and community participant in five European Cities; the work inspired his prize-winning edited volume on Muslim Identity in a Turbulent Age Islamic Extremism and Western Islamophobia published in January 2017
His published work reflects his interest in the behavioural aspects of building safe and resilient communities. Professor Hardy has also published on identity: on innovation and vulnerability: Inclusive Innovation for Sustainable Development (2016). London: Palgrave, With Imogen Baylis and Harris Beider, Mike completed a major review of literature on Cohesive Societies for the British Academy (2019).
