The LSPR Institute of Communication and Business has taken a significant step towards sustainability by establishing a comprehensive framework for implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from 2023 to 2030. This initiative is driven by the fundamental aim of enhancing economic welfare, ensuring social sustainability, and maintaining environmental quality, all while promoting justice and governance to improve the quality of life for future generations. Recognising the national priority of achieving these goals, the Rector emphasises the need for coordinated planning and policy alignment across all levels of government—national, provincial, and municipal. Higher education institutions like LSPR play a pivotal role in this endeavour, actively engaging in educational activities, fostering collaborations, and adapting operational practices to align with the SDGs. The implementation framework encompasses educational programs, faculty involvement, and institutional partnerships, all essential to driving this initiative forward. Moreover, the active participation of universities is expected to act as a catalyst, inspiring non-governmental actors to join in supporting the SDGs throughout Indonesia.

To formalise this commitment, the Rector has announced that LSPR will implement the SDGs, backed by a Policy Brief and Roadmap to guide the process. This decision, effective immediately, highlights the Institute’s dedication to fostering sustainable development through education and community engagement. The policy outlines several key educational initiatives, including strengthening inclusive education for students with disabilities, developing curricula that address sustainability, and enhancing practical skills through project-based learning.

Additionally, the policy promotes peace and conflict resolution programs, cultural exchange for international students, and student-led social projects aimed at sustainability. Faculty engagement is crucial; the policy encourages educators to assign projects addressing sustainable development, utilise eco-friendly materials, and guide students in creating impactful assignments. Furthermore, LSPR is committed to operational changes, such as reducing plastic packaging by 80% at campus events, eliminating paper usage in academic activities, and enhancing energy efficiency throughout the campus. LSPR aims to improve its educational framework by implementing these measures and contributing to broader national and global sustainability efforts. This initiative signifies a robust commitment to fostering a sustainable future, empowering students, faculty, and the wider community to engage actively in sustainable practices and initiatives.
