Jakarta – A seminar with the theme “Self Quarantine” was held live on the LSPR YouTube channel, on Friday 27 March 2020 by Mr. Taufan Teguh Akbari, Ph.D. He started the online seminar by saying, “We are now living in ‘more eras’, we have to do more, work more, take more responsibility, start more projects, build more side hustles. More is not always good, sometimes we need physical and mental rest from our busy schedule yesterday.

According to him, Self Quarantine is a good moment to redefine the vocation of life, restart the vocation of life, or reorganize life. “During the last two weeks, has it brought goodness or vice versa, or have we become individuals who bring goodness or vice versa?’, he asked.

He said that through COVID-19 we indirectly move from the comfort zone which is certainly not comfortable, because of the change from the usual activities carried out, the change and outside our habits. So it needs to be adapted again, like doing online lectures. According to him, “Stay at Home can be a blessing, challenge, or curse depending on how we react. There are many things we can do, teach us more discipline, and manage time independently as we are no longer confiscated or controlled by time. In this Self Quarantine, we learn how to manage time and assignments, in college or during Self Quarantine, because when working not all can be fulfilled by the work environment, superiors, or clients only, but we must take the initiative to become what kind of person “.

This Self Quarantine directs someone to become a leader for themselves like regulating online college lifestyle, doing assignments, studying, working, and so on. This momentum is a good momentum to look for channels that can broaden horizons. According to him, this can be utilized by communication people, because the production of content in a channel is very valuable now. “This moment can also be used to get closer to family, improve the quality of communication, emotions with parents, siblings, family, friends, etc,” he said.

A tip for Self Quarantine according to Mr. Taufan is not to consume news that causes stress switche it with positive things such as sports, reading, writing, or playing games. “Follow accounts on social media that can add insight, make us smarter and increase self-value,” he stressed.

Besides, he also added that this time was an opportunity to complete work that was delayed, hone creativity, and carry out monitoring. It is also important not to delay work as a form of responsibility.

During Self Quarantine, he said “stay up early, adjust your activities to the plans you have made. If necessary, write down three main activities that will be carried out. Also, manage the time to reply to emails or chat, learn to say no if there are offers that we might not be able to do “. Mr. Taufan reminded us to pay attention to mental health in undergoing this condition. “Reduce the perfection standards of the targets we want to achieve, and manage activities as best we can,” he stressed. We can also manage to get up early, and what we do every day must be in line with the goals we have and have set, or from the agenda, we have made. Write down the three most important activities that we need to do.

Set specific times for checking and replying to emails or chats, so that all can be coordinated more effectively. Besides, we also need to learn to say no to the number of job offers and the provision of information that comes. We cannot do everything, and maked us accept too much work and information

We also need to pay attention to our mental health, accept the conditions that occur today. Reduce the standard of perfection that we have in each fulfillment of the responsibilities that we have under these circumstances. Don’t do the same job at the same time, and focus the same, but condition the work with effective scheduling. If we are not productive, it reduces effectiveness by 40% in this Self Quarantine.
