“The Stepmother” was written by Arnold Bennet. The story is focused on Cora Prout (Merlyn Pratiwi), a famous medical fiction writer, who wows her readers with seamy descriptions of personal liaisons and intrigues between doctors and nurses in her hospital romances. Her secretary, Christine Feversham (Tria Marini), copes efficiently with her voluminous output while secretly wishing she could see more of Adrian (Ray Dipo), the son of Cora’s late husband. Adrian has been banished from the house because Cora thinks that he is distracting Christine from her work. The reviews of her latest novel are not flattering particularly one article from “The Daily Snail”, but it seems that she has an admirer who is Dr Gardner (Deni Febry) who lives in the flat below.

Turns out, the writer of the article was none other than her son, Adrian himself. The motive was none other than revenge against his own mother who had banished him from the household prior to the death of his father. After sorting out the article problem with his mother, Adrian finally received the permit to continue his relation with Christine, after his mother got engaged with Dr Gardner. (Tarrasch / Citra)
