His Excellency Deng Xijun gave a speech as well as opening remarks for this webinar. He said that the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak had given a huge challenge to the world. This pandemic threatens not only health, but also the world’s economic and social development. The main major task for all countries in the world is to restore stability and growth as soon as possible. As has been demonstrated by the ASEAN countries and China, where since the beginning of the pandemic until now shoulder to shoulder to help each other and provide a good example to the world.
Although this pandemic presents many difficulties, this pandemic also succeeded in creating opportunities, digital economy is one of them. According to him, both China and Indonesia had lived during the 4th Industrial Revolution, but the real change in human life was not as great as it is now in the midst of a pandemic. E-Shopping, online learning, digital payments, and videoconferencing are just a few examples of transformations that help maintain and keep people connected with their work and activities while maintaining social distance and health. The development of the digital economy is a prospect for cooperation between China and ASEAN countries such as Indonesia from now onwards. His Excellency Deng Xijun also expressed his pleasure at the collaboration between Alibaba and IKB LSPR as Indonesia’s first campus which according to him is a reflection of good cooperation between the China – ASEAN in building digital transformation.
After His Excellency Deng Xijun finished delivering his remarks, Zhou Young as the Secretary General of Alibaba GET Network delivered the main topic in this webinar. He said the same thing with the Ambassador that the pandemic had many impacts on life and created a new normal situation. Even though many of us hope that once the pandemic is over, everything will go back to the way it was, the new normal situation that we are experiencing today will last, especially the changes in our lives and digital transformation is one of them. The most important key in transforming the digital economy is a shift in new understanding not only in the economic field but also in all fields of agriculture, infrastructure, finance, lifestyle, and many others. The new shift of understanding must also consider the consumer factor as a key factor so that an important change needed for business is the shifting of B2C (Business to Consumer) to C2B (Consumer to Business) and in manufacturing to C2M (Consumer to Manufacturer).
Mrs. Prita Kemal Gani delivered in the closing ceremony of this event how would the prospective young entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs be able to survive and take the opportunity in digital transformation in Indonesia. He also said that LSPR already has a business incubation institution (CACS) that will help LSPR students in developing their business ideas so they can seize this opportunity.
