[UPDATE] Book Discussion “Building an Independent Press”

Jakarta – LSPR Research Center held a book discussion webinar on Friday, November 20, 2020, which was held from 2 pm to 4 pm. The book that is being discussed in this event was entitled “Building an Independent Press” by Atmakusumah Astraatmadja. The event was attended by various speakers such as Priyambodo RH, Hendry Ch Bangun, S.S., M.I., Kom, Arief Suditomo SH, MA, and Dr. Ir Akhmad Edhy Aruman, M.Sc., IAPR. The book discussion event was accompanied by moderator Rendro Dhani, Ph.D and was broadcasted live on the Google Meet platform and the LSPR Jakarta Youtube channel.

At the opening of the event, Rendro Dhani, Ph.D and Head of Research Center & Lecturer of LSPR Communication & Business Institute presented the biodata of all speakers to the audience of the discussion event to explain the backgrounds of the speakers of the event. In addition, the moderator has also presented the table of contents from the book “Building an Independent Press” by Atmakusumah Astraatmadja or Atma. At the end of the opening ceremony, the moderator explained that this book was not sold to the public, but was released in the press agency Dr. Soetomo, so that the contact number for viewers who are interested in buying the book has also been presented.

Atma has provided a few reviews regarding the books he wrote. He explained that the book “Building an Independent Press” discusses the history of events that occurred in the world of the press. He said that over time, presenting writing and delivering news has been influenced by business interests in order to survive. Other speakers also commented on this book and linked it to the problems that occur in the press world in the era of digitalization and disinformation.
