Dr. Kathi explained about vaccine side effects

Dr. Kathi explained about the various types of Covid-19 vaccines and their side effects. She also said that the AstraZeneca vaccine was effective in preventing the new variant of Covid-19 that had entered Indonesia. This is based on the results of a study on cases that occurred in the UK which had already been exposed to the new variant of Covid-19. In the UK the efficacy is about 70.4% after the second injection. AstraZeneca vaccine has also been widely used in various countries, so its credibility has been recognized. Vaccines need to be done to protect ourselves, our families, the environment, prevent the spread in the wider community, set a good example, and as a form of gotong royong. Vaccines will reduce the risk of exposure to the virus, and if you are still exposed to it, the symptoms you will experience will be lighter.

Attachment of recommendations from the Indonesian Society of Internal Medicine regarding individual criteria for vaccination

She also explained in the questions and answer session about the requirements for taking the vaccine and what to do before and after the vaccine. The requirements to be able to take the vaccine are not having high blood pressure, blood sugar and blood profile are in good condition, no chest pain for the last 3 months and no comorbid disease or comorbid but controlled. If you have thyroid disease or hyperthyroidism and auto immunity, you are currently not allowed to take vaccinations. Dr Kathi said, before getting vaccinated make sure not to take antibiotics, get enough rest, and eat enough. She also explained that if in the first 72 hours after the vaccine side effects were found such as fever, red and swollen injection marks, it was normal as long as the symptoms continued to subside. But if after 72 hours the symptoms are getting worse, for example the fever is getting higher, then immediately contact the health worker who carried out the vaccination for further observation. After being vaccinated, it is permissible to do light exercise, because our bodies have spent quite a lot of energy responding to the vaccine.

This online seminar ended with a photo session with the participants.
