Jakarta – Saturday 16 January 2021, Wide-Awake held a talk show entitled “How Fashion Shouldn’t be Disposable” on the Zoom meetings platform at 16: 00-17: 30, guided by Alita Mislia as the moderator. Wide-Awake is a group of LSPR students majoring in International Relations who focus on promoting thrift shops as an alternative step in environmentally friendly shopping.
The speakers on this talk show are Sharlene Budiharjo, founder of Sustain The Nation and Angelyna Victoria, founder and chairman of ProjectBuzzIDN. This talk show focuses on discussions about fast fashion. Starting from how fast fashion can have a negative impact on the environment to how this phenomenon can be replaced with another alternative, which is thrift shopping. The two speakers also emphasized the audience to see fashion as an investment so that the clothes purchased are not only used once that lead to waste.
The audience who participated in the talk show seemed enthusiastic about hearing the discussion that was being delivered. Many audiences also asked questions related to the fast fashion industry and thrift shopping and were answered well by the two speakers.
