Jakarta, 22 July, 2020 – Faculty of Business, LSPR Communication & Business Institute (LSPR) together with the Vice Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, period of 2011-2014, held a seminar through online media (webinar). This activity was the fifth series of the LSPR Business Webinar that will be held by the Business Faculty until September 2020. The theme of this webinar was “Dissect Tourism Potential in the New Normal Era”. Vice Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, period of 2011-2014, which now serves as The Chairman of Indonesia Tourism Forum, Dr. Sapta Nirwandar, SE., DESS, DESS, was present as the speaker. The opening remarks were presented by the Dean of the Business Faculty, Mr. Alppy Valdez, M.M.C. This 5th webinar series was led and moderated by the Assistant Head of Tourism Study Program, Ms. Jati Paras Ayu MM.Par. There were about 90 participants from students and lecturers of LSPR as well as students and lecturers from various universities and institutions in Indonesia.

Mr. Sapta explained that since Pandemic Covid-19, the industry that has had a huge impact throughout the world is the tourism industry. Sectors that are experiencing a decline in revenue are hotels, holiday destinations, restaurants and MICE. The decline of the income can be seen from the decline in tourist visits both domestic and international. The target of 20 million tourists was only realised by as many as 3 million tourists until June last year in 2020.

However, with conditions like this, Indonesia must prepare if conditions have been said to improve. Promotional strategies that must be offered also must show the system “C-H-S-E” namely Cleanliness, Healthy, Safety, Environment. It is concluded that, the tourism industry players in various parts of the world must prepare the health protocol by paying attention to the cleanliness of the area in the destination and business sector, the health of both employees and tourists who visit, the security that is carried out with sophisticated tools in detecting or preventing the spread of the virus such as Thermo-Gun, Scan Passport, Disinfectant Room, Fast Swab Test, etc. And then the factor from the environment that must be taken into account in order to break the chain of the virus either by getting used to washing hands regularly, wearing face masks and keeping a distance from each other. These things are not easy, not only from industry players, but also the community that must be well educated and government policies that support the rise from this downturn and have the confidence to start again.
