Jakarta –  Friday, 26 November 2021, LSPR held the 8th session of the 3rd LSPR OMNI series in collaboration with Mahidol University, Thailand.

The eight session featured Ms. Chorlada Suriyayothin, Lecturer at College of Music, Mahidol University in Voice Department (Musical Theatre) and was moderated by Ms. Maylaffayza Wiguna, lecturer from LSPR Communication and Business Institute. In this session, Ms. Chorlada discussed how to be a professional performer. What are the fundamentals of performance that need to be learned in order to deliver the best performance.

The presentation

“First, we need to know ourselves before we do our performance, the characteristics of our performance and how it matches our personality. We need to find the key to deliver the message to the audience through our performance. How we read the lines or the story also determine the meanings and feelings. We need to express the right emotion in order to build the right ambience to the performance. Using the right tone is also a great help in delivering the messages. It is one of the reasons why practicing our vocalization and the tone of our voice is mandatory for every performer.” She explained.

She continued with “Practicing our breathing, pronunciation, and vocalization will help the performer to express the line, emotion, and feelings in the right composition. Other than that, confidence, self resilience, and discipline is the key to being a professional in the performance world.”

The participants

LSPR OMNI is part of a lecturer exchange programme, an initiative to balance the student’s online and offline academic learning in addressing the “new normal” environment.  LSPR OMNI is similar to LSPR Lecturer Exchange Programme, however due to travel restrictions, we wanted to continue the implementation by making this available online. LSPR OMNI started in 2020 where international lecturers come and teach LSPR students through online classes. This year, LSPR OMNI will be held  from 29th October 2021 until 17th December 2021. The distinctiveness of this year’s session of LSPR OMNI is that the sessions are available for all LSPR students without any limitation. We want to reach and invite all LSPR students to join and take learning beyond borders.
