[UPDATE] LSPR OMNI : Traditional Media Turn Digital

Jakarta – June 14, 2021, Faculty of Communication LSPR Institute had the opportunity to present Ms. Farah Nabila, a lecturer from Tunku Abdul Rahman University (UTAR) – Malaysia who is part of the OMNI LSPR program. Starting at 13:00 WIB, Ms. Farah shared information with all students from class MC 23-excl, MC 23-1 & 2 TP talking about ‘Traditional Media Turn Digital’. The lecture begins with a discussion of media transformation from conventional media to digital, by providing examples in several aspects such as the digital transition in the film industry, how digital transformation changes the speed of information, changes in various media & how digital transformation encourages people to learn many new things in everyday life.

Ms. Farah says ‘in traditional use of media more general concepts, where we are given very little freedom of choice. But with the digital transformation, we are given more freedom in choosing topics, information, entertainment and many other things according to our wishes/preferences. In using digital media to disseminate information, Ms Farah reminded ‘don’t forget to look at who our target audience is, what their cultural background is, what they like, what is currently making headlines. So that we can create & disseminate interesting information that can reach many people.

Ms. Farah also emphasized the striking comparison of conventional and digital media, including usability, permanence, interactivity, dispersal, production of media content, expediency, and feedback. ‘Digital media makes it easier for us to get a variety of information at the same time and not only stop at accessing social media, but on various digital media platforms available today.’ In closing, Ms. Farah said, “conventional and digital media can still reach audiences on a global scale, but digital media offers various freedoms in the production of media content, digital media also adds convenience in getting feedback which is the essence of two-way communication”. Ms. Farah will again give lectures online at the second meeting, Wednesday 23 June 2021.
