Jakarta Friday, the 15th October 2021, LSPR held the 2nd session of LSPR’s third UPSCALES Workshop in collaboration with De Montfort University (DMU), UK.

The second session featured John Coster, Founder of Documentary Media Centre and lecturer of communication arts and media production from De Montfort University, UK discussing mainly about how to produce a heartwarming documentary film. He started from Identifying the message or value of the documentary film that needs to be delivered with clear intention to the right audience. The session was moderated by Ms. Candy Hernandez, one of LSPR lecturers who has over 15 years of experience in the field of TV, Film & Video Production and has produced various films and documentaries.

Mr. John Coster emphasized on the importance of the value delivered by the documentary itself, what are the messages that needed to be conveyed and how to make a connection with the audience. “A documentary without an impact on society will not be able to change anything. We need to engage the audience with the right story and interest. Speak up your mind, let the audience know why these issues are important in a creative documentary. Be brave in making documentaries, explore the journalism areas, a great documentary does not need formalities, it needs a value to inspire the world and initiate acts.” as explained by Mr. John
