Jakarta – On Saturday 5 June 2021, wuhub.id held a seminar Road to Kolabpreneur 2021 “Starting Local, Reaching Global”, which raised the theme of fashion design and digital market. This seminar was held semi-offline, participants can take part in the event via zoom or come directly to the venue at WU Hub Coworking Space. Caramia Sitompul, owner of @tioriabycaramia_official, Glenn Marsalim, owner of @mgkym.shop and Rade Tampubolon, CEO & Founder of SociaBuzz, were invited as speakers.

Situation at the venue




Glenn Marsalim shared material about how a design is produced, so that more new designs are more attractive. He explained the process of making one of the mgkym designs with the theme of Indonesian Natural Scenery which was inspired by the song Pemandangan – Tasya Kamila. The design is made using the concept of a tangram pattern, which is arranged in such a way as to describe the lyrics of the song. Glenn said that he is not trying to make a product with a unique design, but rather to offer other options for the target market.

Next, Caramia Sitompul shared about how she built her fashion business and the challenges she faced. She told us that at the beginning she was also afraid to start her business and faced many difficulties, such as the pressure of people’s expectations about foreign graduates and people’s perceptions of women entrepreneurs. But she managed to overcome it all. “In my opinion, to build a business, the first thing you have to do is just start,” said Caramia. According to her experience, focusing on people who support us such as family and friends and joining communities will help overcome fear and help build our business.

The last speaker, Rade Tampubolon, shared about how to improve marketing efforts so that we can focus more on our products and business. He said that currently digital marketing is very influential in a business and many companies are using KOL in their marketing mix. It is important to choose the right KOL, whose followers are in accordance with the target market of our business. He wants to make it easier for a business to do digital marketing by creating a talent and service marketplace called SociaBuzz. Through SociaBuzz, Rade hopes that research for digital marketing activities will be more efficient.
