Jakarta – On Wednesday, October 20, 2021, Depok Autism House and London School of Beyond Academy held an event with the theme “Through the Colors of Autism” which was also attended by Farel, Yuri, Rizki, Nanda, special children with autism. This event started with the reading of a book entitled “I am Special in My Own Way” by Keisha Annabel Garnette (Top 12 Finalists of APH AMSA Indonesia 2021/2022) as MC. The book tells about how the character who also has autism feels.

The moderator and speakers

After the book reading session was over, it was followed by a talk show session. Still guided by the same MC, by inviting Farel’s mother, Yuri, Rizki, and Nanda to share their experiences. This session discussed the daily activities and hobbies of special children, as well as the impressions of parents after joining the Depok Autism House. Mrs. Nurmah as Rizki’s mother said Rizki got an independent character thanks to joining the Depok Autism House. Followed by a discussion about how the pandemic affects learning activities for special children.

Motivation words for autisms

After the talk show session was over, the committee prepared a padlet, which is a kind of blackboard where the participants of the Story Telling Day event with the Depok Autism House would provide motivational words for special children with autism. The event was closed with a photo session with the committee, mothers of children with autism, participants and volunteers.
