Jakarta – On 9th of March 2021, LSPR Communication & Business Institute held the 4th International Conference on Communication and Business (ICCB) 2021 online via Zoom video conferencing app. The theme of this conference is called “Threading the Post-Pandemic Communication and Business Practices: What’s Next for Growth and Opportunity?”. The event begins at 10 AM Indonesia Time with opening speeches by Dr Janette M. Pinariya, Ms. Paristiyanti Nurwadani from DIKTI and also Dr. Rudi Iskandar as Chair of the ICCB 2021 Organizing Committee. After the speakers delivered their speeches, it was continued with a performance from the LSPR Choir. The event is then continued with a keynote speech by the first keynote speaker, Dr. Marianne Dayrit Sison. Dr. Sison is an honorary university fellow from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology/ RMIT. The topic of her keynote speech is “Beyond Translation: Community Engagement and Inclusive Communication”. The moderator for this speech is Mr. Taufan Teguh Akbari, Ph.D.
The speech is then followed by another keynote speech from Prof. Marco M. Polo, who is an Associate Professor at the Communication and Journalism Department and Director for University Advancement at De La Salle University- Dasmariñas/DLSU-D. In this speech, Prof. Polo discussed a topic about Sustainable Leadership and Governance in the Next Normal. The speech is also being moderated by Mr. Taufan Teguh Akbari, Ph.D. Afterwards, the participants are allowed to have a lunch break for an hour. The third keynote speech is delivered by Prof. Dr. Parichart Sthapitanonda, who is a Vice President for Academic Affairs and Social Outreach of Chulalongkorn University. In this speech, Prof. Dr. Sthapitanonda delivered a speech about a topic called “Communicating with Care: The Challenging Roles of Communicators in the Pandemic”. The moderator for this keynote speech is Mr. Ari S. Widodo Poespodihardjo, Ph.D. The fourth and also the last keynote speech is delivered by Prof. Dr. Anne Gregory. She is a Professor of Corporate Communications from University of Huddersfield and also a Former Chair of Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management). The topic of her keynote speech is called “Strategic Challenges in a Post-Covid, AI world: ‘New Normal’ or ‘Radical Change?’”. The moderator for this speech is Ari S. Widodo Poespodihardjo, Ph.D. Afterwards, each participant and speaker are being divided into several Zoom breakout rooms and this continues until approximately 5 PM Indonesia time.
On the second day of the International Communication and Business Conference or ICBC 2021, on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, the activities were focused on focus group discussions (FGD) and paper presentations that the participants had worked on with the Zoom breakout room system which was divided into 4 parts, with moderators from LSPR Communication and Business Institute. Each part of the breakout room is filled with participants and moderators, most of whom are academics from various universities in Indonesia and abroad such as participants from the neighboring country, Malaysia. The first parallel breakout room session starting at 10.00 to 12.00 WIB was moderated by lecturers from LSPR Communication and Business Institute, such as Mrs. Sophia Bernadette in room 1, Mrs. Rani Chandra Oktaviani in room 2, Mrs. Sylvia A. Ronnfeld in room 3, and Mrs. Eike Alexandria in room 4. Breakout room in the second session starts from 13.00 to 15.00 WIB. Room 1 moderated by Mr. Albert, room 2 by Mr. Tunggul Panindriya with invited guests, Mr. Don Bosco Doho, room 3 by Mrs. Mary Lemona, and room 4 moderator, Mrs. Past Novel Larasaty.
Inside breakout room 2, the first paper presentation was delivered by Mrs. Carly Stiana from Universitas Pelita Harapan about the use of social media during the pandemic. This research was conducted using qualitative methods by examining behavior, motivation, and so on. The essence of this research is that there is a significant increase in the number of individuals who increasingly need and use social media intensely, especially in worship, study, and work. The event ended with a closing ceremony and the announcement of the best paper winners.
