Dr. Ir. Robinson explained the material about IPR (Intellectual Property Rights)

Dr. Ir. Robinson Sinaga, DH, LLM, started the material by talking about IPR (Intellectual Property Rights), there is an application that can be downloaded for those who want to know more information about IPR, namely the “BIIMA” application, this application will not consume memory because the space is very small and in this application entrepreneurs can check whether their business has been registered or not. Next, he stated what the real meaning of IPR. According to him, the essence of IPR is legal protection. Legal protection for the creations of our minds that are intangible or do not have a form. IPR provides legal certainty for our business, if we have a business then there is an IPR which means that our business already has legal protection.

Mrs. Yuliana R. Prasetyawati, M.M as Dean Faculty of Business, attended the webinar

After that, he explained that the duration of the trademark in the IPR is calculated as 10 years from the time it is registered, therefore the most important thing is the filling, the filing of the data. Goods classes in IPR are grouped into only 45 classes. Grades 1 to 45. For example, such as coffee and restaurants, restaurants are class 43 while coffee is class. It is important for an entrepreneur to know which class the product is to be protected, if I am not mistaken then his business will not be properly protected. One registration costs Rp. 1,800,000.00 per class, there is a strategy that can be taken when registering a business, namely entering everything in the class category that will be selected because otherwise it will minimize the opportunity and will lose, explained Dr. Ir. Robinson.
